I received these photos from my Dad, they are from the fire-fighters struggling with the fires that are burning in Victoria Australia........ Although some are very beautiful pictures, the sadness that surrounds these and the death tolls are horrendous. I can't imagine the suffering the families involved have endured - It is our worst ever, and to think the fires could have been started by arsonists is appauling!!!
Several families have lost their homes and everything they own - The Australian RED CROSS has set up an appeal, and COLES are donating sales from Friday's trading and will also accept donations.
Hi, Lorri! Poor little koala! The pictures are stunning. Looking at the height of the trees in comparison with the truck makes you realize these are stately old growth forests not easily replaced. And the stories we've been hearing even in the U.S. news about how many lives have been lost or shattered... truly devastating. All of Australia is in our hearts...
ReplyDeleteWow- those pictures are almost surreal. I cannot imagine fire like that. As you know, California was on fire for months. But we never here things like this about other countries. I think the koala picture is sad, a wild animal willing to take water from a human. In the prairie states out west, fires are rejuvenating for the grasses- but I see nothing good from these. The human and wild life death toll is unimaginable. Prayers said for Australia. hugs- Lee

Greece had massive fires last year too, and all because of some sick individuals. That first picture is so sad...
That is so horrific. It has made the news over here in the USA. My heart goes out to everyone.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable... I saw the pics into German TV and also the video of rescued koala Sam at You Tube. It makes me so sad about the fires, because Australia is one of my favorite countries although I did never traveled there until yet.
