JavaBlu Award

Another blog award - wow, I'm so honoured to be receiving these little wonders. They might not mean much to some, but to me they show me that someone is liking my blog - whether it be in my rambles and sharing of my life in parts, or whether it be in the artworks that I attempt. My sincere appreciation goes to everyone who visits me!

Thank you to my friend Marilyn for including me on her blogroll and thereby offering this award to me :)

I have so many blogs that I read regularly - I sub with "Bloglines" and I get to see all the new posts in one easy window.... With a brief piece of the latest posting. It's wonderfully easy to use, and if you want to see something in full, you just click it and it will open in a new window - If you haven't subbed with bloglines I recommend you try it - BLOGLINES it is still in beta testing - but is working wonderfully for me.

Now as for my pick for the award, this time I would like to choose a blog that isn't really 'art' related, but that I like to have a read of and get a giggle from somedays too...... So go along and say hello and visit: RG RYAN

9x12 Mixed Media "PAIN"

Here's another one, this is the first one I started but did flit from paper to paper creating the two in the one sitting.... I prefer this one, I spent a bit more time on the background and the vintage papering.

It pretty much sums up how I feel about Pain!
You can click the image to see it in a full window and then zoom in to actually see the wording :)

9x12 Mixed Media "Ugly in her own eyes"

In order to distract myself and focus on creating something different to atc's, I grabbed my paints and a piece of watercolour paper 9x12 and began to draw with oil pastels and paint. The following is what happened.
I'm not getting the hang of those gorgeous backgrounds you see, but I can see glimpses of something i like.... colour? expression? Not sure what yet. I know I have a very long way to go before I can feel that ability to create colourful wonders that I see online everyday!!

It was, however, a great way of self-expression. I threw on the paints, layering colours, scraping bits off and adding more. I then tore up a vintage book and added words that felt appropriate, and on the "PAIN" piece I added paper wings.... if only I could fly!! I would fly away to a land of healing.

Here's the first one titled "UGLY in her own eyes" - the scanner missed the bottom section off - but you can still get the idea.
I chose the wording on this piece, because being in constant pain has made me unhappy about how I am sometimes. You see, it's very hard to offer sympathy when one is hurting so badly already - I do try, and for someone who has worked in the 'healing' area spiritually in the past - it's frustrating to not be able to heal oneself either! So I guess I am despondent about things and don't like what pain can do to a person. I also feel like I am constantly fighting and battling things, The Taoist approach is something I am not yet able to put into practise - but I'm trying...

The words read:

The Wu Wei approach to conflict-solving can be seen in the practice of the TAOIST martial art T'ai Chi.
Ch'uan, the basic idea of which is to wear the opponent out, either by sending his energy back at him or by deflecting it away, in order to weaken his power, balance and positoin-for-defence. Never is force opposed with force; instead it is overcome with yielding.

I'm Guilty

Well how is this for being addicted and sometimes a little silly.... yesterday I spent a fortune (not telling how much) on some new supplies - mostly paper and a couple of transparancies from ANOTHER SHOP... yup, my H and my BeccyBoo wont like this... I needed some retail therapy after feeling pain forever!!

I went into another store - now bear in mind I can buy wholesale from over 250 + suppliers for my OWN STORE... But, of course we don't have everything or every brand, and I saw this stuff I just HAD to have... LOL

My justification - Well It's always good business practice to know one's competitors - and I did source some 'new' product manufacturers/brands too... so in my eyes, that's a good justification.. teehee

Guilty - yes!!

Stretching Myself

Well I uploaded some of the new ACEO's via the flickr upload to blog. It was the only way I could get them to upload here... grrr

I hope you like them :)

Most of the cards in the postings below were made predominantly with my LEFT HAND!! Yes, It was a slow process. I challenge you to try it yourself. You will learn to appreciate what you do, the ease you do it and the time it takes... LOL

I'm almost ambidextrous now - just kidding teehee (not quite)

I see another specialist - ortho surgeon on Friday, so hopefully I will get some kind of help or some pain relief!! I'm praying I don't need surgery on my elbow, as needing it on my shoulder is bad enough :(

Latest ATC's & ACEO's

Well, after being thrilled to be receiving a blog award today, I thought I better get myself motivated and upload a few of my most recent art cards that I have made.. (or I may never get any more awards LOL)

Most of these have been done during a period of 'limited elbow/arm usage' so they were quite slow to make, these were made over the past couple of weeks.

You can click on the individual images, or please visit my Flickr site. I have some 'sets' over there, if you want to find them easier - here are the direct links: Available to Trade on Flickr and the other is for my ACEO's which are available for purchase through my ETSY store: Artivity Please note not all my cards in the ACEO set are listed yet at Artivity on Etsy.... just don't seem to get enough time in the day!! Or am too busy browsing blogs LOL

If you don't belong to Flickr, but would like to trade with me - please don't hesitate to comment here, or email me :)

I hope you enjoy them, and thank you so much for visiting me.

If you scroll down to the previous post, you can see I have uploaded the full scans.
